LFC release first Nike away kit…and it’s blue

Premier League champions Liverpool FC have officially released their first Nike away kit for the 2020/21 season, with a teal and black design…or is it blue?

Liverpool FC x Nike Away Kit 20/21

Nike have gone bold for their first away Liverpool kit with this ‘hyper turquoise’ colour kit, accompanied with swirling designs inspired, the kit supplier says, by the Shankly gates outside Anfield.

The kits design is also meant to be a nod to “Liverpool’s strong musical roots and the flyposters often found around the city to advertise local music events.”

Nike’s Scott Munson says: “We have very distinct design filters that are fully demonstrated in the collection we’ve created for Liverpool FC.

“First and foremost, we set out to create a collection that celebrates the rich culture of the city of Liverpool and the club.

“The away kit allowed us to be bolder and more expressive in how we brought some of these cultural references to life and we’ve landed on a look and aesthetic that really reflects that.”

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is certainly a fan of the design, “I’m a massive fan of the away kit. I really love the design and how it has been influenced by the city and specific aspects of the club. I can’t wait to play in it next season.”

Fans, on the other hand, are unsurpringly divided over the design.

Celebrity super fan, Chelcee Grimes, has assured weareliverpool.co.uk that the kits are not blue….
